Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival

As part of the 2013 Brisbane Emerging Arts Festival (beaf.org.au/), Kupkas Piano (Brisbane’s premier new music ensemble) have commissioned Jakob Bragg to write a new work for Flute, Clarinet, Piano & Percussion. The resulting work: Quartet for the End of July, will be performed this Saturday (27th, July) at the Judith Wright Centre at 8:00pm. Welcome to the website’s new look with special thanks to Elle Reid for the photography!
2013 brings 4 new concerts (so far!) including the two listed in ‘Upcoming’ – Turkish Coffee & Oranges and also Colours of Creation. Later on in May a new work of mine will be premiered alongside Steve Newcomb’s Flying & Floating at the Queensland Conservatorium, and in late winter, a concert featuring students works will also house a new work on mine.
Another film for director Miki Clarke (currently entitled ‘Frost’) is also in the works, as well as a short animated film also on the horizon. This alongside another portfolio of works for my composition studies and studies into Arabic Music as apart of Theory studies will be sure to quickly fill up the year.

Jakob Bragg: Composer

2012 is quickly becoming a big year. So far I have 2 film’s to write for: ‘Lyrebird Lane’ and ’La vie, l’amour, la mort’ plus the premier of ‘One Son’ in March. The premier of my ‘Skyscapes’ suit will be on the 22nd of March – in which I will be conducting a small string orchestra accompanying a Piano and a Soprano. Also the ‘Dare CD Project’ is underway now with the first round of rehearsals  and various promotional tools and websites being developed this month. These projects and hopefully many more shall be on top of my studies in Composition at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music – in which I am now in my 2nd year.

Click ‘About’ for my full biography and view some of my music under ‘Music’ – the Soundtrack to One Son shall be up very soon.
