Written for the Melbourne Conservatorium postgraduate orchestral reading session.
Programme Note
A truncated and fragmented work, Ochrelîla is a playful exploration in orchestral timbre, texture, gesture, and the societal context of such a large group of musicians. The title Ochrelîla is a portmanteau of Ochre (referencing Liza Lim’s Pearl, Ochre, Hair String) and Turangalîla (Messiaen), two works of immense influence when writing this short orchestral composition.
