Programme Note
Dust: red earth, drought inflicted, dry, coarse, midday. Dew: green grass, moist, wet, malleable, cold morning. In this work, I draw upon these completely opposite phenomenon. The timbres of the snare drum and submerged gong evoke a very literal sense of this, whereas the contrast between static and morphing gestures suggest this in a much more abstract way.
